Last Saturday two representatives of Girl Scout Troop 68123 delivered a ton of hygiene supplies. We were flabbergasted! We never have enough of these type supplies to place in our gifts packages. They’re on a new mission, one of early literacy and they need our help. Please reach out to them if you can help!
We asked their leaders to send us a story, so that we had some context and could share. Here is what they had to say – “The girls in New Bedford Troop #68123 chose to use donated funds they received during their cookie program booth sales to buy baby shampoo, powder, and lotion — based on GiftsToGive stated need for these specific items. They also put together “kits” for adults & children — including shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, combs, and petroleum jelly.
We have six girls in our troop. They have a sincere appreciation for helping those less fortunate in our community.
The troop just completed a Book Drive in December whereby they collected over 1,000 books! They are in the process of planning to host “story time” reading sessions for children PreK thru 3rd grade in our community. The girls themselves plan to read stories at different locations in New Bedford. They will be asking for help from businesses in the community.
Any business offering some space to hold a few reading sessions can contact their troop leader, Christina, at girlscoutsnb68123@yahoo.com or 508-951-8937. The girls are hoping these efforts will help them achieve the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn — the Bronze Award!”
