We have re-opened in Acushnet!

News from GiftsToGive

" "Our original location in New Bedford was demolished and we moved five miles up the road. We’ve re-opened after having been closed for 12 weeks. We’re turning an old golf ball factory into a new Philanthropy Factory, powered by thousands of student volunteers.

We need adult volunteer help in the mornings, when our primary volunteers are in school, to help get the new space operational.  " "

Adult volunteers can “drop-in” any time between 9-2, every day except Sunday! There are a zillion things to do; from heavy lifting – interior demolition and re-construction, to light work of sorting clothes by gender and size, sorting books by age, inspecting and cleaning baby safety items and the never ending cleaning and organizing of toys, puzzles and games.

Fire Protection Services, in Fairhaven, provided our fire safety code compliance review.  We’ve also been blessed with Armando Pereira from Comprehensive Design/Build Services in Wareham who has taken on our build project management! J & D Drywall and Dartmouth Building Supply have supplied the labor and materials for our interior build-out.

MCDOUGALMcDougal Architects adopted us! They inherently understand our process and have taught us a lot about form, function and how important flow really is! They have designed an amazing new work space for us and we’ve excited about getting to work!

bcsbBristol County Savings Charitable Foundation and The Acushnet Foundation underwrote our move and are helping with our retro-fit!

targetSouthCoast Target Stores asked their commercial floor cleaning  company, Kellermeyer Bergensons Services, to clean our floors in Acushnet. They did a most amazing job!

Corner Lock in Mattapoisett has replaced all the old locks and added lots of new ones.  We’ve disconnected from Nstar and will be buying our power from the solar farm, next door! All our interior lighting is LED, so our energy costs will be significantly reduced.
