With the leadership and mentoring of UMASS Dartmouth students – students from Roosevelt Middle School and Scouts from New Bedford Troop and Pack Seven joined together to support Mother Earth!
Students participated in AHA! Night’s Annual April Earth Eve Precession. We think AHA! New Bedford, is a bright and shining light focused at how amazing downtown New Bedford is! We cannot thank them enough for helping to build a more Caring Community.
Our wonderful college mentors designed original art for their logo (and our T-shirts), designed a sustainable “float”, did a teach-in on Sustainability for our middle school students the week before. On Earth Eve they and our Scout Leaders lead and marched in the procession in downtown New Bedford’s historical district. We didn’t win the prize for Best Float – but then it’s another student service learning moment and tremendous motivator for next spring.
