Students built and oufitted 2,000 square feet of raised planting
beds.
Four neighborhood schools germinated
vegetable seeds and planted an 800 sq/ft vegetable garden, before they left school for the summer break.
Neighborhood middle school students germinated 1,200 pumpkin seeds.
Local church youth groups planted the 1200 germinated
seedlings on June 26th.
Summer students will weed, cultivate
and nurture the pumpkin plants until school resumes.
Our plan is to harvest a zillion pumpkins on October 23rd.
SouthEnd elementary school students and their families will be invited to bring a donation - and receive a free pumpkin
and two new books!
Hot dogs, hamburgers,
student entertainment and a celebration for READING!
We'll celebrate SouthEnd children, their families, reading and early literacy! In this time of great hope, we
have a unique opportunity to come together to support all our children.
