Repurposing Children’s Items

GiftsToGive_October9-2015_ 008We provide gift-packs of clothes, books and toys to thousands of local children who are homeless or living in families in poverty. Finding a home for the new or gently-used children’s “treasures” that are shared by our young philanthropists and their families is the program people are most familiar with.

Using the time and talents donated by thousands of student and adult volunteers, we are able to put the necessities of childhood into the hands of children who might not otherwise have them. From onesies to prom dresses, we can find a home for just about anything you and your children no longer use or need.

This work would not be possible without the participation of hundreds of distribution partners. Social workers, teachers, shelter workers and other people who work with under-served children throughout the South-coast. They log onto our online ordering system, our own version of Amazon.com, and list the items needed by the children in their care. We encourage them to add details such as “She likes the read and especially likes purple and sparkly things” or “He likes science and monster trucks” so that our volunteer “shoppers” find items just for that child.
